The Matthew B. Johnson Florilegium mini-exhibit is on display in the Dean's office. The complete Florilegium includes 65 scientific illustrations of Sonoran native plants, which capture the minute, identifying details of the species growing in the historic Joseph Wood Krutch garden on the UA main campus mall (the garden often referred to as the "cactus garden"). The mini-exhibit includes 12 illustrations which will be on display in the private offices of the CALES Dean's office from Jan. 2026 through December 2026. These illustrations are in full color and show important features of each plant under magnification and including all stages of the plant's development. Each work of art took hundreds of hours to complete. The collection of illustrations advance the educational mission of the Campus Arboretum as they support research and educational programs and inspire non-scientists with their near-photographic accuracy and exquisite precision. While the mini-exhibit is not available for public view, the virtual gallery of the art are available on our website.
