Noteworthy Characteristics:

They have very short needles, that grow out of the branch in bunches of two. The cones take two years to mature and a few more years after that before they open to release the seeds. The tree provides the flavor for Greek retsina wine.They are also the species featured in the famous “The Big Trees” painting by Paul Cezanne.
