Stop location: Northeast corner of the building, outside.
Welcome to the ENR2 mobile tour! At this stop, you can find two plants that produce beautiful flowers: Mexican redbud (Cercis canadensis var. mexicana) and Texas betony (Stachys coccinea). If you're visiting in spring, you may get to see the blooms. However, looks aren't everything. These two plants have more to offer than just what meets the eye. The Texas betony needs moderate water and partial sunlight. In fact, it's well adapted to life in the same canyons that inspired the design of the ENR2 building. The Mexican redbud is used commonly as an ornamental, especially in landscapes designed for dry environments. In addition to being suitible for xeriscaping, the Mexican redbud was used medicinally in the 19th and 20th centuries as a treatment for ailments such as diarrhea, dysentery, and stomach irritation.
Continue walking towards the south side of the building for the next stop.
