TOTW Citrus aurantifolia

Like all citrus, the key lime tree belongs to the Rutaceae family. It originates from East Asia, but is now cultivated all around the word. The key lime is smaller, more acidic, and has a stronger aroma than its more common cousin, the Persian Lime. Aside from making fantastic pies, key limes can also be applied to help reduce bee stings and mosquito bites. Currently, the majority of key limes are grown in California, Texas, and South America.
