TOTW Casuarina cunninghamiana

This Australian native, also known as the beefwood, is commonly used used for furniture, flooring, shingles, tool handles, and as firewood. That makes it not only an impressive tree to look at, but a handy one to have around. It has scale like leaves, red flowers, small globular brown cones, and is dioecious, meaning there are male and female trees. At a maximum height of 50-65 feet, it is a large tree for this area. It is used for screening, controlling water erosion, and as an ornamental.
