Olive Walk Party

Arbor Day Olive Walk Party 2006

Thanks to very generous donors, nearly every remaining site along Olive Walk has a bench. Now the entire walkway is lined with Arboretum-sponsored seats just perfect for a delicious lunch or peaceful contemplation. To celebrate, the donors and families gathered for an Arbor Day Lunch under the olives. Attendees heard about Robert Forbes who planted the olives - and everyone took home a small "Swan Hill" (fruitless) olive courtesy of Swan Hill Nurseries in Waddell, AZ. The new benches honor the following people: Robert Forbes (who planted the Olive trees in the 1890s), Amy Jean Knorr and Philip Knorr, Nancy and Gordon Graham, Ralph and Shirley Jo Taylor and Family, Douglas Wylie and Patricia L. Wylie, Kathleen Grant Van Wyck, and the Faculty, Staff, and Students of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Grateful thanks to all of the donors and honorees.
