The Chilopsis linearis, or desert williow, is a native, fast-growing tree that can reach heights of about 20 feet. It has soft green leaves that provide a light, airy shade. Between May and June, the desert willow produces fragrant orchid-like flowers. The edges of these beautiful flowers are white with pink to violet colored throats. In addition to being low maintenance, the desert willow is pollen-free, which makes it a good choice for those with allergies. The UA campus boasts over 90 of these gorgeous trees!
