TOTW Alibiza julibrissin

This tree is part of the Fabaceae family and has variety of different nicknames; Persian silk tree, pink siris, mimosa, and silky acacia, to name a few. These trees grow relatively fast and can reach heights up to 20 - 35 ft. This specific species originated in China, and was later brought to North America and Europe, where it is now a common ornamental plant. Some Chinese people used the bark and flowers for herbal remedies. This naturally gorgeous tree has a lot of variation in form and flower color, making it an attractive addition to most public spaces.
