An infusion of the root is administered as a postpartum tonic. The fresh leaves are applied externally for the treatment of abscesses and various inflammatory conditions. A hot decoction of the leaves is inhaled to relieve a sore throat. Ethanol extracts of the aerial parts show tumor inhibitory activity in research experiements.
