Karen Gengle

 

Karen Gengle completed the Botanical Art and Illustration certificate program at the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix, Arizona.  Her illustrations were exhibited at the Grand Canyon National Park Kolb Studio, “Grand Canyon’s Green Heart: The Unsung Legacy of Plants”.  Additional exhibits include Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, Phoenix North Mountain Visitor Center, and Tempe Public Library.

 

Karen’s illustrations are published in the New York Botanical Society Intermountain Flora: Vascular Plants of the Intermountain West, U.S.A., 2012, (NYBG Press).  Her illustrations appear in the Audubon Arizona River Pathways Program, and the Legumes of Arizona sponsored by the Boyce Thompson Arboretum and University of Arizona.  A series of eleven Ephedra illustrations was commissioned for a doctoral dissertation at the University of Alaska.  Her illustrations are part of the University of Arizona permanent collection.

 

Karen is a member of the American Society of Botanical Artists and the Southwest Society of Botanical Artists.  She is a docent at the Phoenix Art Museum. Karen is a Michigan native, where she studied art and foreign languages at Kalamazoo College.  She obtained her Master’s in International Management from Thunderbird School of Global Management.  Karen is currently a faculty member of Grand Canyon University, Colangelo College of Business.
