Born in St. Louis, Joyce Riney Peters holds a Certificate in Botanical Art and Illustration from the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix, Arizona. Co-chair for the ASBA’s 2009 Convention. She orchestrated the SWSBA’s exhibits, “Indigenous Plants of Arizona,” at Tempe Public Library, 2012 and others. Joyce has exhibited at Tohono Chul Park and the Desert Museum in Tucson. Her Pollinator Exhibit is at North Mnt. Preserve in Phoenix since Jan. 2015. More recently, she has worked with botanists and contributed 15 illustrations for the “Legumes of Arizona” book . For the past number of years Krutch Garden has been her focus. Once again the native plants of Arizona will shine.
Enjoying a special bond with nature and plants, Joyce began collecting and documenting plants for the Phoenix Desert Botanical Garden and the McDowell Sonoran Preserve. She is a juried member of the Arizona Art Alliance, a member of Arizona Native Plant Society and North American Butterfly Association, a University of Arizona certified Master Gardener and yes, Joyce’s yard is Wildlife Habitat certified.
