Project: Lenny will conduct an assessment to evaluate the climate risk of tree species in the UArizona collection. The assessment relies on predictions generated by the observations of tree species globally using the BGCI Climate Risk Assessment tool. The work will yeild lists of tree species with good probability of thriving given the mean annual temperature of current climate as well as two other predicted climate scenarios. These lists will be useful for those considering plant selection in tree planting programs. The assessment risk points to species with promise not only for longevity, and health but also for the generation of ecosystem services such adapted trees provide. The work will be prepared as a web report (see: Student Projects section of this site) and as a research poster at upcoming public events.
