The University of Arizona's campus boasts trees from all over the world. Some of the species from Mediterranean or tropical climates bloom in the cool wet days of winter. Flowering displays in December and January include golden puffballs, sky-high creamy bee-attractants, and huge white and pink tropical delights.

Characteristics: Shocking pink flowers, resembling daylilies
Origin: Native to Peru and Argentina

Characteristics: Creamy white to pale yellow flowers, resembling Easter Lilies
Origin: Native to Brazil and Argentina

Boojum trees - Fouquieria columnaris
Characteristics: Creamy flowers, loved by insects
Origin: Native to Baja California
